Expansion Plug
Expansion plugs and cupped plugs are an inexpensive, efficient, permanent method of closing/sealing manufactured holes in casting and other processes.
They are a type of pipe fitting fixtures used to seal pipes. They help prevent leaks in various applications such as plumbing, automotive, and construction.
Expansion plugs feature a cup-like design that allows you to insert them in pipe ends and manufactured holes. Using a wrench, you can then expand them to create a permanent tight seal. That’s especially helpful when working with larger diameter pipes.
Since every application is different, expansion plugs come from various material options. They include aluminum, brass, cold-rolled steel, and stainless steel.
